"Yoga as Medicine" Dr. Timothy McCall

I'm recommending yoga all over the place now to people who don't "do" yoga but who could benefit from the practice.

The Gita is firmly in the dualism camp as far as philosophy goes, so dualists will probably get more out of it than non-dualists. It was also extremely repetitive, and from that standpoint, frustrating. However, there are a few jewels in there and I'll probably write about those in a future post or two. I also think that if you take the Gita as metaphor, there is certainly plenty of material to spawn thought. The question then becomes, are you reading the Gita to discover the ancient wisdom, or simply using it as a mirror for your own beliefs? I don't see anything wrong with either approach mind you, but the reader should be aware of how they are approaching the book. I will also add that it would have really helped had I read the key word glossary in the back before reading the translation. Thanks for asking.
